We all want the best education for our children. When I found out we were moving to Fort Polk, I searched Louisiana school ranking. I found out that Louisiana ranks 50/51 in the United States in education Public School Rankings By State 2021 (worldpopulationreview.com) .  This worried me- what would we do about schools?

Luckily, I found Faith Training. They let us do a tour and a pre-visit and I was comforted by the knowledge and kindness of the administration. They opened the classrooms to allow our children to see the school, and the teachers were welcoming throughout our first visit.  Faith Training exceeded all our expectations.

After two full school years at Faith Training, my kids know Jesus and the Bible better than they ever have- even through a pandemic! Faith Training made God the center of my kid’s lives. The plans for each academic class were well communicated to parents, and the homework allowed us to be involved in our kid’s classes.

When we moved to Kansas, both my kids scored in the 98th percentile on ALL standardized tests. I was amazed. I know it is because of the quality education they received at Faith. I truly tell everyone who asks about Fort Polk that Faith Training was the best thing to happen to our family in Louisiana.

FTCA parent 2019-2021

We LOVE Faith Training Christian Academy!

I visited FTCA thirteen years ago as both a parent and prospective employee. In many ways, the school was exactly what I had expected to see in a traditional school setting. However, there was something distinctively different—something peaceful, perhaps—that met me as I walked the hallways, talked with administrators, and observed in classrooms.

Our family chose to partner with FTCA that day, and we have not once regretted that decision. As students, my children have grown socially and spiritually while being challenged academically. As parents, my husband and I feel that we are not merely invited to our child’s school, but we are included in a family.

Parents have many options to consider, questions to answer, and maybe even a few myths to dispel in their search for the right educational fit for their family. To aid in that regard, I want to candidly share a few things that I have learned from my experiences as both a parent and a teacher at Faith Training Christian Academy.

FTCA administrators are people of prayer.

It is that simple: pray over every decision, every student, every day. I have seen and can attest to the posture of prayer that fills the entire campus. Both my classroom and my home have been immensely blessed because of these prayers. I am confident that my own children are safe emotionally, physically, and spiritually under the care of the FTCA administrators and staff.

FTCA is not a homeschool, but you will find a family here.

I enjoyed homeschooling my own children for a season. I eventually found, however, that I wanted to diversify their opportunities. We had previously had some wonderful experiences in public school, but I wanted to ensure a conservative, Biblical approach to their education. Faith Training was the answer. At FTCA, we found a network of people who could actively reinforce our Christian values while expanding our insight and experiences. Scripture passages are verbalized daily in the classroom, and Biblical principles are modeled consistently in the relationships that exist there.

FTCA graduates are academically prepared for further education.

Because I am a high school teacher, this truth is especially important to me. Graduates of Faith Training are eligible for college and vocational school admission, TOPS awards, and scholarships based on the same criteria as public school students.

I have former FTCA students who are now nurses, engineers, law enforcement officers, graphic designers, social workers, and teachers – just to name a few.  Others have gone on to earn technical skills and certifications, and some have established their own businesses. Several FTCA alumni are also now leading and serving in Christian ministries. Regardless of what lies in a young person’s future, the experienced teachers at FTCA have the competence and compassion needed to shape students into becoming productive members of society and, hopefully, ministers of the gospel of Christ.

FTCA is not in the business of selling high school diplomas.

Faith Training is a legitimate state-approved school employing qualified teachers who serve a diverse student population with diligence and Christ-like devotion. The school operates strictly on tuition payments and donations, so your family’s financial investment is imperative. However, your children will be taught in a classroom by a qualified professional, and students are expected to earn their grades, not pay for them.

“Children almost always hang onto things tighter than their parents think they will,” (E.B. White). As I watch my children become adults, I find that this quote from Charlotte’s Web rings true. For the past thirteen years, FTCA has been an invaluable partner in giving my children good things to hold onto as they navigate life. I couldn’t be more grateful.
